Thank you. Sharing it with my husband, USMC during the Vietnam War, but he only spent 2 days in ‘nam.

Though I didn't go in country, I did enlist, and at 17 I did want to be a military man, which at 17 was kind'a like .. wantin' girls to admire a guy in uniform ..

Before I was 18, I had a whole bunch'a life in-putted that took away anything called childhood innocence ... by 19 I was in deep conversation with guys that had returned from Nam and had some pretty serious things to say ... by 20 I was political and knew of names like Robert McNamarra and some opinions that made sense to me ... blacks tellin' me they had no beef with the yellow guys 'cause they still had problems with white guys ... by 21, I was on my own and struggling to make sense of life

Now I'm an old fart on a local school board and I'm doin' my DAMNDEST to manafest the accusation that the NEA destroyed my America

Kids today have no clue about American history, have no clue what a Republican is nor a Democrat, but they know all about socialism (by indoctrination, not by title) and will vote in just a few months (almost 18)

It's my turn to fight

I was in-country 1969. It took many years before I actually came home - One of the things that helped me come back was a reunion with my outfit in 1996. We went to 8th & I for a Friday Parade. The Deputy CMC was Officiating - a 1/5 Marine was receiving a Silver Star for action in the Battle of Hue City - 1968. The General said that our performance in 'Nam was regarded as among the greatest exploits of the Corps. Whether that was so or not, the affirmation resonated with me. I have been back to 8th & I several times since, and I am most gratified to see the treatment conferred upon us.

I am prepared to give my life in their defense."

Me, too.

It’s sure been a long time since we got back to the World.
