Personally, I’m not overly worried, and I’ll explain why.
The left hates the military, and more importantly, they are *contemptuous* of the military. They truly believe that the *only* reason people join the military is that “they are too dumb to hold minimum wage jobs.”
This leads to the left embracing two very bad axioms about the military. The first is that, because military personnel are so stupid, that what they do can be done by anyone with a gun. Remember how years ago, Obama had dreams of raising his own personal army from ghetto scum, gang bangers, and other “yoots”?
The other axiom is hilariously bad: that military personnel are mindless drones and will obey any orders that anyone gives them.
The left truly thinks that some leftist apparatchik can just show up and order a military unit around as if he were their commanding officer.
Which brings us to the current situation.
Elite forces in the military are far more conservative than even the regular forces, who are very conservative as a group.
They have been told they are on a training exercise. And as long as they are, fine, and they will train long and hard. But if some political henchman decides he can make mischief with them, like ordering them to arrest people, I can imagine some truly ugly scenarios.
Ugly to the political henchman, that is.
What I don’t see them doing is mindlessly obeying orders to attack American citizens. The 1 in 100 who might do that won’t do it, either, because he knows his comrades would make short shrift of him like any other enemy.
Bingo.
