I used to think Marty Allen was the one who had that novelty song ‘Hello Muddah, Hello Faddauh (A Letter From Camp). Turns out that was Allan Sherman. I think Sherman started Alvin and the Chipmunks. The Chipmunks were as endearing as they were annoying. Alvin was the virtual ‘Honey Boo-Boo’ personality of the late 1950’s.

It was David Seville who created the Chipmunks. Allen Sherman may have co-wrote some of the Chipmunk’s songs.

Nope, Alvin and the Chipmunks were the creation of Ross Bogdisarian, AKA David Seville...
