I just can’t believe that as a RULE, American troops acted like the Russians did. The Russians were led by a murderous godless tyrant, Stalin, whereas Eisenhower and Patton seemed to have a strong code of moral(Christian-based) conduct on the order of George Washington. I hope I am not being naïve here.
There is no way that the Western Allies even came close to the Ruskies in that area. Not saying they didn’t commit any rapes, but you can bet most rapes by Western troops were severely punished.

If the Germans had been blowing up US countries, if the Germans had been invading and raping and rounding up US Jews, I am certain that our attitudes would be different. If US civilians had to fight on US soil and had to watch their family members get blown up, shot, raped by Germans and Japanese, I am sure we’d be rooting for brutal payback and Eisenhower would be ordering US troops to do what the Russians did to the Germans.
Russians paid a high, high price and mainly kept the bulk of the German army occupied through attrition.
