In the planning for Bojinka they set off a bomb in an airliner over the Pacific as a test... killed a Japanese engineer, blew hole in plane but it landed, IIRC.

Some events had multiple aircraft, such as 9-11 and Sept 1970. Some hijacking reports don’t give enough information, so the number could be higher by several more events.

EGYPTAIR FLIGHT 990 is included on the list & appears to be the only one with Muslim ties. SILKAIR FLIGHT 185 involved Egyptian & Indonesian authorities so maybe there’s some possibility .... the other two had personal/employer issues.
