Concealed Carry Holder in Utah Risks His Safety to Save Man From Knife Attacker [VIDEO]

On March 17 in Salt Lake City, a good samaritan going by the name of Nick (he declined to give his last name) witnessed a man pull a knife on another man. He recounted that a the knife-wielding suspect began attacking the other individual, who was unarmed, swinging the knife at him several times.

Nick, a concealed carry permit holder, got out of his car and pulled his handgun on the suspect, stopping the attack and possibly saving the unarmed man’s life.

“I told him to lay down on the ground and he stayed there,” said Nick.

While Nick held the attacker at bay with his gun he called 911. Several witnesses at the scene began filming the incident and, unbelievably, urged Nick to put his gun down.

“Nobody called 911, nobody reported it, they are all worried about getting video so they could be famous or whatever they are,” said Nick.

You can hear the suspect plead for his life at one point on the video. “Don’t shoot me,” the suspect cries, to which Nick replies, “I’m not gonna.” The suspect turns his head and yells at Nick, “You are too! Get that gun off me!”

Police arrive a few seconds later and calmly take over the situation, leaving Nick to return to his car for a moment while they handcuff the suspect.

It’s encouraging to see that there are civilians like Nick out there, willing to step in and risk their own safety to help another human being. It’s also encouraging to see the police respond in a positive manner to citizens who act to stop crime like Nick did.

The gun deserves an award for showing the maturity to not suck Nick’s trigger finger onto the trigger so it could fire itself under his unconscious control.

The police don’t want “hero” types they want “witnesses?”

Translation they WANT victims.

Look, I get it, they do not want yahoo’s acting like cops, but I tell you what, I am willing to be the greater part of concealed carry folks would handle this just fine and guess what? NOBODY DIES!

The constant conditioning of people to think ONLY the Police settle such things is immoral to even suggest much less unachievable and demonstrably wrong.

I can remember last week commenting on a news article up here in Canada concerning the self defence controversy (should not be one at all, of course). I cited links through Fox News concerning Professor Lott’s findings on how concealed permit holders are a very law abiding group and having a conviction rate for non-justified homicides lower than that of police officers. The mere citing of Fox News had gun prohibitionists very nasty to me, asking if I had gotten counselling for my violent fantasies. Sure shows many of the gun controller ilk are the really troubled to say the least.

I’ve had to do it unarmed, except the one time when I had a pool cue and jumped between the knife man and the unarmed man.

It would be nice to someday have a gun, when doing this stuff.

“The police did state, however, that they’d prefer if people not put themselves in jeopardy like Nick did.”

And what way would that be? Nick seems to have managed nicely, with little or no jeopardy to his person, unless the knife-man had a confederate unknown to Nick. An judging from the picture, had the knife-man tried anything, Nick would have ventilated him handily.

Very discipline. Very correct. Very proper. Kept gun on threat until police arrived. Didn’t say anything ugly. Convinced bad guy he would kill him.
