Another Month Of Record Cold, But Reasons To Be Optimistic

BOSTON (CBS) -Enough is enough. For the past eight weeks or so (starting around Jan. 23) we have experienced the harshest New England winter stretch ever recorded in our long and weathered history. This is not an exaggeration. Records haven’t just been challenged, they have been smashed, obliterated. We all deserve and NEED a break.

After the snowiest and coldest February ever recorded, March came in like a polar bear and looks to be going out the same way.

In fact, as of this writing, our average temperature this March is 31.8 degrees.

This ties us with 1984 as the coldest March on record since they started taking readings at Logan Airport in 1936. A few relatively “mild” days later this week will likely prevent us from holding onto the number 1 spot, but either way March 2015 will go down as one of the coldest ever recorded.

Didn’t the liberals predict that our children would not know what snow was, that our children wouldn’t be able to play in the snow in the wintertime?? What happened???

It’s hard to believe that baseball season starts in two weeks. I wonder if they will have to shovel snow at places like Fenway Park to play ball?????

You know it’s been a rough winter when there’s still a foot of snow on the ground in mid-March and it’s considered an improvement

It’s really odd, the article doesn’t even mention global warming.

Its not as bad here in the midwest this winter compared to last winter but to the east they’re still getting nailed.

We did have a game called on account of snow in Detroit last year.

Lies, Lies, and more Lies, everyone knows the Planet has a fever and that Global Warming has forever rid the planet of snow, ice, or even cold weather. Just ask Al Gore.

So far the folks making winter gear (Columbia, North Face, LLBean, etc) seem to still be in business, LOL.

Back when I was a pup and attended a high school assembly as a freshmen at the first ever "earth day' (1970), they told us we would all freeze to death due to carbon particles blocking the sun's rays.

The solution was exactly the same then as it is now: Give all the "smart" people absolute control of of the economy and politics and they would lead us out of this certain disaster.

I am still amazed at how few people actually remember the new ice age hue and cry of that era.

I'm sort of hoping they will dust it off and try again so that God will spite them by making the earth warm again.

There’s more than a foot of snow left on the ground. The place where I walk my dog is still hip deep.

Just an incredible amount of snow. I grew up in Chicago and went through the blizzard of 78, but this is by far worse. Great for nordic skiing though...

This is why I am looking for land around Orlando.
I’m tired of 35+ winters in NH.
I’m too old to deal with IT anymore.
I went through 8 cords of wood so far and cutting, splitting, and stacking has taken it’s toll on me.

basically these idiots think the people are Gruber like as all their models have failed and any average person knows that the temperatures have not change for 15 years.

MIT climate scientist Richard Lindzen slammed this week’s amendment introduced by Vermont socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders that would make it the official position of the Senate that man-made global warming is real and a threat.

That has happened. There is always a chance of snow in April.

The groundskeeper is using black sand to melt off this season's snow-pack.
