The .223 is a very useful cartridge and so is the .300 Weatherby Magnum.

I agree with the other 3 tho.

Want to shoot prairie dogs at 800 yards at a semi-reasonable cost (reloading). 220 swift.

5.56? Great patrol round, i.e. you can carry a lot. But I don’t patrol. Works pretty well on people at typical engagement distances. LOTS of it around.

7.62 hollow points. I like mucho.

But I prefer AR ergonomics over AK ergonomics so I have more AR’s than AK’s.

And in the right set up it can be very accurate. I have a Savage heavy barrel varmint that can routinely do same hole 3 shot groups at 100 yards if I am having a good day. Longest Prarie Dog shot is 540 yards. Even though the barrel is a 1 in 9 twist the 55 gr Hornady Tap Urban works the best. Go figure.
