Michael Sam's window of time to make an NFL team is getting shorter, and perhaps his patience is, too.
Sam was here at the Arizona Cardinals' training facility on Sunday for the first NFL veterans combine, one of 105 players invited for a tryout for scouts and team officials, including Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman.
Sam is the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL, but auditions with the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys didn't vault him to an active game day roster.

Post snap pictures of Sam show him still in stance with every other player on the field in motion. You cannot learn reaction time. Tebow, on the other hand, seems to have finally corrected his throwing issues, possibly too late. Any team that needs Tebow, however, probably cannot survive the circus that would come with him.
The ‘Chickification’ of the NFL continues. Why don’t these less-than-men form a new Powder Puff League, or something?

You hit on the bottom line with Tebow and Sam, do teams really want the circus that comes with taking them on, when the perception is there are other players out there that are at the very least as good as they are?
I read that in general, 40yd dash times at this event were SLOW. Specifically, Michael Sam never broke to 5 second mark.
Lack of speed has a lot to do with why these guys aren’t on rosters today.
He sacked Johnny Football last preseason.
He should get another few chances just for that alone.
Tebow might have a chance if the stories of his improvement are true. Quarterbacks are less common than defensive linemen. Bellichick almost kept Tebow on the practice squad, as he saw the issue as correctable. Too many QBs on the roster and need for space for injuries squashed that idea.
Boy, I just can’t wait to read all the other stories about 7th round draft picks who didn’t make the cut in 2014.

But just as Tebow keeps trying and trying, I expect Sams will do the same. It'll never sink in.
Well Sam has said that if he can’t get a gig in the NFL he’s willing to play in the CFL. So he at least understands there are other rungs to the ladder.
Sadly, Sam will be a gay porn star 4 years from now. I truly hope he finds Christ.
It's a passing game up there, even more than in the NFL. If Sams did a 5.07 40 at the veteran combine then that doesn't bode well as an outside pass rusher. The very things that are keeping him out of the NFL will count against him even more in Canada.
Holy crap, I ran a 4.9 40 yard dash in high school. and at the time I was 6’4” and 255 pounds.

Sams is two inches shorter and 0.17 seconds slower than you. He just doesn't have what it takes to be in the NFL.
