What gives the state of Texas the right to walk all over the First Amendment and what other speech can they suppress?

Objection! Leading question. And a non-sequitur one to boot. Whatever non-sequitur means.

The state opened the door when they decided to offer vanity plates and set the standards for qualifying for an individualized design. If the SCV met those standards then the state should not be able to deny them their plate just because they don't like the message or the messenger.

Your Honor, the witness is evading the question. I'll rephrase.

In Texas, who makes the license plates? The state or the individual?

Was my answer too high a level? OK, I'll play along and let you take it step by step. The state of Texas makes the license plates.

Now my turn. Who set the requirements for creating a specialty license plates?
