Look guys, keep a grip. Yes the majority of the BBC is leftist sympathetic (at minimum). Yes I think (as a Brit) that is scandalous. Yes Clarkson has fallen foul of the PC crowd on occasions too numerous and good for him too. (Special kudos for punching the odious Piers)

BUT..just remember. He is in the wrong on this occasion. He came back from shooting, discovered no food was on, threw a hissy fit and physically assaulted another BBC employee. That is not on. If anyone else was to do something like that in their place of work they would be suspended too. In fact, I think they'd stand a good chance of being fired. Its only Clarkson's fame that is protecting him.

You can all flame away if you like.

Unfortunately, this is true. If you or I swung at a work colleague, then it is going to be 1) written warning 2) fired Probably closer to 2, especially in a large PC organization. If he actually planted leather, and the punch landed, then it is going to be (2) + the cops - jail We are fortunate that Clarkson's actions are between (1) and (2) which means that the BBC have some slack to play with. They do not have to sack him. There is an image doing the rounds (I think on twitter) of 'the Joker' with the caption 'What, the BBC was infested with paedophiles and rapists for years and on one said anything. Jeremy Clarkson swings and someone and the whole world goes wild ?' but I cannot find it.
