Bachelor Nation: 70% of Men Aged 20-34 Are Not Married
Pajamas Media ^ | 03/12/2015 | Dr. Helen Smith

I saw this headline at Newsalert from a CNS News article and went over to read it:

(CNSNews.com) – Seventy percent of American males between the ages of 20 and 34 are not married, and many live in a state of “perpetual adolescence” with ominous consequences for the nation’s future, says Janice Shaw Crouse, author of “Marriage Matters.”

“Far too many young men have failed to make a normal progression into adult roles of responsibility and self-sufficiency, roles generally associated with marriage and fatherhood,” Crouse, the former executive director of the Beverly LaHaye Institute, wrote in a recent Washington Times oped.

The high percentage of bachelors means bleak prospects for millions of young women who dream about a wedding day that may never come. “It’s very, very depressing,” Crouse told CNSNews.com.

It seems that Crouse and her crowd are watching too many Say Yes to the Dress episodes. So what matters is that women’s dreams are shattered? What about the bleak prospects for millions of men across the country who get very little legal or psychological protection from marriage? Now that’s what’s very, very depressing. Change that and maybe more men will be interested.

How many of those 70% get free or cheap sex (price of dinner) while enjoying an unfettered life?

The joke is on the feminists.

Of course they’re fighting back by claiming that all sex is rape. But there are plenty of women left that enjoy sex.

What’s utterly funny is their confusion. At the same time that they want to label every man a rapist, they also want to elevate the word “slut” to that of “stud”.

It isn't about what you want. It's about the child. A kid needs a mother and a father.

I suppose that is why no-fault and easy divorces are about a kid needing a mother and a father. /sarc

I’d like to think that they are being responsible and not get married until they have their act together. I married when I was 27-28, after college and after working for 5-6 years and had money in the bank.

Check the source though, this is coming from the right not the left. This bunch send the feminists scuttling hissing like vampires confronted with garlic and holy water!

“Far too many young men have failed to make a normal progression into adult roles of responsibility and self-sufficiency, roles generally associated with marriage and fatherhood,”

Isn't that interesting? Men are expected to marry and father children to demonstrate their transition into adulthood. But women are free -- even encouraged -- to avoid both of those things to demonstrate theirs.

There would seem to be a double standard at play here.

Now wait just a darn minute. I made that transition just fine. Graduated, got a good job, worked for several years, found an awesome woman and got married. That was when I was 29. Which means I spent roughly 65% of the time between age 20 and 35 as a bachelor. In a sense all that ‘70%’ number means is that most dudes are getting married close to 30.
Reality check people! Close to 30 has been a normal marriage age for men through out much of history.

This is skewed by illegal immigrant males who flood across the border and can’t engage in normal life.

I find it questionable that they are setting the age range for 20-34, when most self respecting men are going to marry around 30. We aren’t living in the caliphate.

My Son went to a Christian high school. Do you know how many of the girls in his class dated a boy from the class? None. Zip. Zero. And it wasn’t like the boys weren’t asking. The parents of the girls had convinced the girls that the boys were their enemies. The boys would steal their scholarships and keep them from being successful. I guess those parents will bounce their darling daughter’s briefcase on their knees instead of grandchildren.

From 'Communist Goals'...

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

Feminism is not about equality or balance, it is about achieving equality in all areas that women don’t have superiority.

Women seem to be moving towards “hyper-gamy”. The reason why “elite” men don’t worry about things becoming skewed towards women is that they benefit from the hyper-gamy while being the most able to afford stuff like child support.

Having a stable middle class, anchored with average working men earning an income that can support a family is against the upper elite vision... that is why laws don’t change, for example on child support, etc.

Getting married, having kids, and then getting divorced can ruin a man who was naïve enough to believe it would work out.

I blame feminism. Females are no longer the voice of reason and stability aimed at settling a man down. Females want to slut around just like the males and DEFINITELY not settle down until established in their careers, later in life.

Bella Abzug and Gloria Steinem are to blame.

It’s a reflection of the poor economy and individuals perception of future prospects.

I think this plays a LARGE part in these stats. I have two sons, 27 & 25. The oldest has a finance degree and a decent job at a local bank. Still though, it was only about a year ago that he was earning enough, and had saved enough to move out on his own.

He's getting married later this year to a very traditional young lady of the same age. I think, he would GLADLY have moved out and married several years ago... if he'd been earning more money.

This.

I personally know of many monogamous couples who avoid the trip down the alter simply because they can’t afford it. Insurance is one of the biggest deciding factors. Keep the woman on gov’t assistance. She gets free college and some EBT. They get back more on their taxes. If they marry, they’d lose too much and the man isn’t capable of closing the gap.

We’re following in Brittan’s footsteps on this one. Within the next few years we’re going to be referring to these unmarried monogamous couples as ‘partners’.

If you reward certain behavior, you’ll get more of it. If you punish other behavior, you’ll get less. Right now, the gov’t is rewarding couples for not getting married and punishing those who do.

The degree to which someone wants to get married is directly proportional to how bad looking they are! The better looking, the less of a hurry.

There would seem to be a double standard at play here.

It has become obvious recently that the goal for all of the grievance groups - feminists included - that equality is not the goal. Dominance is.

The problem here is the feminists need males to voluntarily go along with their program, at least where matrimony is concerned.

It may be a conservative source, but the article was written by a woman.

They can’t help it. They think having a manslave is a birthright.

The sense of entitlement is the issue, not the essential nature of being female. Other females in other countries understand the strengths and weaknesses of men and seem to be there to genuinely want to help.

Not in the US. This is more Boomer hangover - women can (and should) have it all. Lean in, and all of that.

As for the poster that thinks that older men will be alone in their winter, the facts don’t bear it out.

Most older men of any means are in demand, if for no other reason than they are company. Men can wait indefinitely now. Venereal disease among the 60 to 90 set is at an all-time high. They’re getting busy down at the Home.

The REAL problem with men is religious - popular culture has made atheism cool. It makes sense too, you can’t possess any real intellectual capability and be an atheist. Atheism appeals on another level too - it’s arrogant. Atheism boldly claims, “There is no God.”

What follows from that is, “So, don’t worry about it. Do what you want. Nobody is keeping score.”

THAT is what is turning 20-34 year olds into worthless idiots. If I’m not accountable to God, then my boss comes in a very distant second to the cartoon character God. I’ll lie to get the job, and when I’ve got it, I’ll lie to keep it.

It’s like they are cultivating sociopathy. In fact, I think that’s exactly what is happening on the left. Kill off the conscience and anything is possible. We’ll use the sociopaths to scare the rest of the sheep into submission.

And, it’s incredible how few sociopaths you need to get the job done.
