Bachelor Nation: 70% of Men Aged 20-34 Are Not Married
Pajamas Media ^ | 03/12/2015 | Dr. Helen Smith

Posted on 03/12/2015 7:37:26 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

I saw this headline at Newsalert from a CNS News article and went over to read it:

(CNSNews.com) – Seventy percent of American males between the ages of 20 and 34 are not married, and many live in a state of “perpetual adolescence” with ominous consequences for the nation’s future, says Janice Shaw Crouse, author of “Marriage Matters.”

“Far too many young men have failed to make a normal progression into adult roles of responsibility and self-sufficiency, roles generally associated with marriage and fatherhood,” Crouse, the former executive director of the Beverly LaHaye Institute, wrote in a recent Washington Times oped.

The high percentage of bachelors means bleak prospects for millions of young women who dream about a wedding day that may never come. “It’s very, very depressing,” Crouse told CNSNews.com.

It seems that Crouse and her crowd are watching too many Say Yes to the Dress episodes. So what matters is that women’s dreams are shattered? What about the bleak prospects for millions of men across the country who get very little legal or psychological protection from marriage? Now that’s what’s very, very depressing. Change that and maybe more men will be interested.

Unfortunately a large number unmarried men are still spawning offspring, while the rest of us pay to raise them with our tax money.

I’m 46 and very happily married. If I were a young man today there’s no way I’d get married.

I’m going to enjoy the whining of feminists growing old...alone.

It’s been my observation that this sort of thing is like musical chairs with the music going off around men’s 30th birthday. Considering that the age spread is 20-34 I would be surprised if that basic fact has changed.

I would guess that many men in the age group discussed in the article are living with a woman out of wedlock. No one wants to commit to permanent choice. I think they call the lack of responsibility “keeping open ones options.”

I’ve been paying about $20,000/yr alimony for the last 24 years. I haven’t remarried.

I’m 35 and 12-15 years ago it was a struggle finding a nice woman that was interested in raising a traditional family. Had a lot of one-night stands and short-term relationships that I am not proud of but 90% of the time it was her that wanted it to be a one nighter, not me. It is a 2-way street. I guess the 20-something men have given up now.

Men are getting sick of being raked over the coals by women that expect them to be a source of money, and a work horse, while at the same time they are expected to live with the threat of being taken to the cleaners if she decides that you no longer “excite” her, buy forcing him to pay alimony and child support.

And seeing how some men are being forced to fork over money to females for kids that aren’t even his, I cant blame any guy that drops out.

Let’s not even get into the minefield of 3-wave feminists freaks in schools. Just holding a girl’s hand can lead you to being labeled a rapist as a child. In New Jersey there is a law proposed that will make the act of telling a female that you make a lot of money, in order to get her to sleep with you, the same as rape!

I work at an agency that has become dominated by women. I give my wife extra hugs now, after dealing with these co-workers on a daily basis.

They have an amazingly self-centered attitude, and would more sooner suck the life force from a man.

Why would ANY man want anything to do with the American women possessed by the spirit of Jezebel? Of course; she wound up as dog dung.

Keep those options open long enough though, and you’ve got bachelors who get sick and then try to marry into free nursing care.

You might have something there, my daughter hasn’t even gotten out of high school without a very nice bright young man laying claim to her.

The couple living in the house next to us, with two teenage sons, no less, invited us to their wedding last year. I had no idea they were just living together. (This is in an upscale single family home neighborhood)

I love this article:

1. It’s men’s fault - they’re perpetual boys.
2. The women are the victim again.

Here’s another theory - men have had it. Why put yourself in a situation you can’t win? Even the article sets it up that way. Men are babies. If they were suckers, like they were 20 years ago, young women could stay on their narcissistic career path, wherein they push out a couple of dependents, make partner or manager, and then blame the father when the kids are screwed up.

Family court still grants women magical parent status, whereupon you have to have video of the wife getting the kid to heat the heroin in the spoon and take it up the syringe for mommy whilst mommy cleans the blood off the knife she used to kill the nanny in order to get 50% custody of the kids.

You’ll still end up supporting her habit, but you’ll get to see them from time to time.

Well said. Sadly, I have encountered a couple of these in my travels.

I have two single nephews who are the walking definition of ‘perpetual adolescence’.

An apt description of many of those here in soviet Red Hampshire...with the state on the cusp of decriminalizing 'weeeeeed'; it WILL get worse.

Marriage is about more than sex. Yes women give it away for free.

IMO men are leery of marriage because of the lack of legal protection. Women can leave anytime they want and take the man to cleaners.

A friends wife (@45 yrs old) decided to start partying with a bunch of young 20 yr olds from nursing school. Picking up young guys left and right.

He’s still paying 50% plus.
