Still, Mr. Lane underscored the advantage Mr. Cruz has with some evangelicals. Asked about the Texas senator’s faith, he responded, “Cruz is obviously born again and goes to First Baptist Houston.”

You keep using the liberal code words “single issue”, which “single issue” is it that you want conservatives to drop?

Anyone can claim to be a born again Christian.

You can get an idea about them by their friends, virws on abortion, how they vote in Congress, love of Country, openess, etc. The current resident of the WH does pass the test.

Based on his behavior and record, what evidence other than self serving comments made during a campaign is there that Barack Obama is a Christian? He attacks Christianity and promotes Islam at every opportunity.

On the other hand, Cruz didn’t have to say that he was a Christian. His positions on issues say it for him. The more I see of Senator Cruz the more impressed I am.

syntax error ...

I never, in this thread .. questioned nor judged a man's salvation

YOU throw the straw man question out like I am antagonistic and I should be educated

syntax error

Obama is a Muslim practicing taqqiya.

I agree with you 100% about Ted Cruz.

I think the effort to condemn JFK as a Catholic not only failed ... but will continue to fail

This thread was started by posting the words of a man concerning (actually, two men) his salvation and NO Freeper here, endorsing this thread, ever made a statement regarding Cruz/Paul salvation except to defend a political STAND based on a religious world view.

I'm beginning to revive the old "sytax error" error

“Taqqiya” Good word and a very accurate decsription!

HOW a man governs is directly related to WHO he prays to (IF he prays) ... but it is not (IMO) the reason to vote for him .... just an element in my decision making process

A large one ... granted ... but just an element

You should rely on Christians to tell you who is, and isn’t saved, since they would know best.

You really think that non-Christians are better on that?

I have a better chance of getting a candidate that has a good solid understanding of the proper purpose and scope of Government from a candidate that is actually "born again" than I do from a candidate that is not. Wasn't Bill Clinton born again? Wasn't Barrack Obama born again? Meaning: did not both profess faith in Christianity and membership in a Protestant church?

I assume you think Catholics are not born again, and therefore are less likely to have a "solid understanding of the proper purpose and scope of government".

Could you explain why you think this?

Quit with the insinuations. That is exactly what I'm talking about, throwing out all of the other issues, because you can't have your way with your top issue.

"Meaning: did not both profess faith in Christianity and membership in a Protestant church?"

And THAT, dear FRiend is the problem with those that are not Christian

A Christian is a Christian because he is and endeavors to ... follow Christ

NOT a denomination or a church or a hierarchy or a dogma or a theological stand or any of the other false accusations thrown around here, today ... and has been noted ... on religious threads here in FR.

A Christian believes Christ, confesses Him publically and attempts to live FOR Him .... and the only instruction book ANY of us have is The Bible.

When you ask a question, or pose a situation that is CLEARLY articulated in the Bible ... you expose yourself as not knowing it, thus YOUR salvation is in question

But most of us are too kind to actually SAY those words

Remember this very carefully: a cult is a religious or quasi group the doctrine or practice of which involves some amount of secrecy.

Do you understand this distinction?

I’m not a religious person, myself.

Another one on this Cruz thread that wants to change it to Catholic/Protestant.

Why?

To: spacejunkie2001
"It is my sincere hope (and I can’t imagine it veering from this) that it is CRUZ they back and it does in fact have the results intended."

But the Huckster is an evangelical pastor of some sort, and Cruz is a Catholic, isn't he?

I guess the evangelical's *could* support a Catholic but it seems unlikely.

Did you read the article? Someone is concerned if Cruz is "born again". Not just any Christian. but a Born Again Christian.

I have nothing against born again, but I don't want to throw out every other Christians. We can work together with others conservatives even though our priorities are not exactly in the same order.

Cruz is Baptist. The important thing is that his policies reflect the Christian faith, something Protestants or Catholics should appreciate.
