How could a cat have been a great president?
My sister named her boy that about 25 years ago. White Jehovah Witness. lol
How about Blanche, I had a great aunt by that name, she lived to be 95 when she passed in 1982. I did a search of my family tree and the furthest back I can go so far is 1694 in Germany to “many, many great” grandfather Balthazar. Emma is another name, my aunt had that as a middle name and it drove her nuts but that was her grandmother’s name.
Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be called Barack!
I’m an Anderson on Mom’s side.
Probably for the same reason boys aren't named Goliath. Would you want your kid constantly called a philistine?
Or Edythe/Edith
Gwendolyn?
Helen?
Nell?
As long as the terminally annoying Caitlin and Meghan/Megyn are not on the list.
Anyone who names their child “Jayden” should be arrested by CPS.
When I was a kid we called girls whose name we didn’t know or couldn’t remember LindaDebbyKathy and were likely to hit the actual name with one of those. They were everywhere.
My favorite has always been Krofar T. Bumquist.
I had a great-aunt named Pearl (born in 1889), who was named after a first cousin. She hated the name Pearl and went by a nickname. It’s certainly one of those old-fashioned names you wouldn’t expect to find among more recent generations.
Let’s keep it that way!
(My “Smith” comes from Silesia via Pennsylvania and the Germanics of the New York State Southern Tier.)
That's racist!
