To be counted as “not in the labor force,” according to the BLS, one must not have a job or have looked for one in the past four weeks. In January 2015, there were 55,756,000 women not in the labor force, which means that 267,000 women dropped out of the labor force since then.

The labor force participation rate, which is the percentage of those who are participating in the labor force by either having a job or looking for one in the past four weeks, declined in February. …

Apparently Obama’s job cutting is having an adverse effect on women.

Since female full-time workers made only 78 cents for every dollar earned by men, why are so many women out of work? Seems that employers would keep women and fire the men first...

Ok I typed at least 5 sarcastic lines on this topic, but really...I could not post them.

In a western society deconstructed of traditional family values, culture and lifestyles...

this information is not good.

You can find this table and several others here: go to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Labor Force Statistics from the Current Population Survey (CPS). Requires Java. Make your selections.

The several tables are useful for comparing Obama administration to others. I have 35+ columns from several government departments' tables assembled into one huge table that I will post on General/Chat. I hope to keep it current quarterly through election 2016.

Well they certainly don’t consider women who work hard tending to their home, husband, family, and kids as an actual full time career (which it is), so the numbers are definitely wrong in that regard.

Mine’s not in by choice. Stay-at-home-mom turned home-school-mom.

They are the ones who do the REAL meaningful work - the work and life God made them for. Homemaking and loving their family is the joy of a woman. The joyless life of women trying to be like men in the workplace is sad.

That, and a warped sense of humor...

* many women who worked did so part time; when full time shifted from 39 hours to 29 and more employers limit it to 18 hours a week with erratic schedules and you can’t fit childcare around it, it is easier to just quit
* the raises in the minimum wage drive up the cost of childcare, which was already going up faster than inflation because of regulations nearly outlawing in home childcare by a retired lady or stay at home mom watching 2 more kids
* illegal immigrants can work and have mom stay at home with the kids, collecting EITC and SNAP and WIC for the kids born here legally without paying taxes; and they have the social custom of having mom stay home with the kids
