Nose isn’t that messed up, so it likely didn’t hit that berm going very fast. Gear likely lifted it up on the berm, before it failed.
Lucky folks.
Which airport is it where an errant takeoff can land you into the Hudson?
Still? After all this time? Well maybe he'll snap out of it one of these days.
“Which airport is it where an errant takeoff can land you into the Hudson?”
Both of LaGuardia’s runway’s.
Per Airliners, this is off of runway 13, which means it was landing from the west. The East Bay is on the other side of that berm.
It couldn’t have been going very fast when they lost control. Can’t really tell from the Instagram that CNN keeps showing, over and over, where along the runway it went off, so we don’t know if it slid off to the side, or didn’t make the turn and slid off the end.
LiveATC’s got it on the 1600Z archive.
“LiveATCs got it on the 1600Z archive.”
Do you have a link?
GROUND STOP PHL 1745 OTHER / EMERGENCY
Sounds as if the weather closed in very fast.
Was watching it live on Fox. That airport must be asleep. Passengers were walking in the snow from the plane to the concourse because no one sent a bus to help the passengers.
Heh, heh! And Hillary gets to take a stress break.
Video of passengers walking through the snow at the link:
This isn’t the first time this kind of thing has happened at LGA.
Sounds like they exited the runway to the left, slid through the snow until the left wing caught in the fence, on top of the berm, which turned it left.
VERY LUCKY.
