It’s not funny. My mom was horribly burned in such an explosion and I missed walking right into it by half a second.
it was unoderized wellhead gas in a gas drilling camp in the hills of Northern New Mexico back in 1956.
A friend, near here, of mine lost his sister to burns when she started up her washing machine kept in the well house of their farm. Mud daubers had blocked the vent that allowed natural gas in the well water to bleed off and the washroom was filled with unoderized natural gas.
It isn't? I think it's comedic gold.
Can't be true. Everybody knows nat gas only gets into well water as a result of fracking.
Think about having to look at your mother’s scars for 45 years after. Think about how she is shunned by all. Think about how it drove your dad to drink when the beautiful woman he married was no longer beautiful.
Google BURN VICTIMS then hit images and tell me how funny it is.
I don’t think I’m the only one finding humor in this.
When I have guests over and they start making burn jokes I pull out the old photos the hospital took of her. they shut up real fast.
Something like this happened to my Great-Grandmother when I was young.
She lived in a cottage behind my grandparents. The heat was propane. It burped and the pilot light went out, then the refrigerator made a spark.
Fortunately for her, the door to the bedroom was closed. The explosion blew the front door out of the frame, turned it around and made it where you could open the door into the ground.
In her bedroom, the plaster was blown off the wall in a circle around her bed. The rest was held up by a picture of Jesus on the wall.
Years later, I lived in the cottage. The picture of Jesus was still hanging on the wall. When I moved out, I took the picture with me. Still have it too. I’m looking for a place on the boat to hang it.
Put the victim album away.
