Actually, some people DO think what they see in movies is reality. After Victor/Victoria came out years ago, a friend remarked to me that she didn’t realize Robert Preston was gay. All I could do was stare at her.
And it’s also the problem with historical dramas, that too many people think the story is true & don’t realize the license taken by Hollyweird. Very annoying.

As a high school history teacher it seems I spend a lot of time telling students that just because it was in a movie doesn't make it true.
