I'm reading a forum which has an interesting take on that. Some of the posters have already watched the episode a second time (geez), and they note certain looks between Rick and Daryl---also that Daryl only became aggressive around Alexandria people. Apparently when Carol walked off the porch, she said something to Daryl about "playing the part." Hmmm.

All of that actually dovetails with the last scene. It was Rick, Daryl, and Carol on the porch, discussing future plans. Daryl may be playing down to what people expect of him.

I just started watching it...let me just say, when that lady said she was a “Congress person” I immediately would have asked “what party?” If she said “Democrat” I would have been out of there like a bat out of hell. And since they are demanding all guns be surrendered she probably is. They are making a huge mistake staying there
