This Billionaire Governor Taxed the Rich and Increased the Minimum Wage -- Now, His State's Economy
Huffington Post ^ | 02/28/15 | Carl Gibson

Posted on 02/28/2015 6:10:04 PM PST by SendShaqtoIraq

"Minnesota's Governor raised the minimum wage, signed an equal pay act, and raised taxes on the rich to fund K-12 schools and higher education. Minnesota now has the 5th highest job growth in the nation and median income is $8,000 higher than the national average. By contrast, Governor Walker in the neighboring state of Wisconsin did the opposite: he gave the rich $2.1 billion in tax breaks, busted unions, and cut school funding more than any governor. Wisconsin now ranks 37th for job growth, median income is $800 below the national average, and the budget deficit is so large Walker has stopped making payments. Share this for every conservative who says raising taxes on the rich will destroy the economy. Cure them of their ignorance."

Where is all the job growth occurring, the public sector which pays 20% more in this stalled economy?

I’d guess Minnesota gets spillover from North Dakota’s fracking boom; likely the supply lines from Chicago and points east run through.

I call bovine scat. Dayton became governor and small businesses left Minnesota in droves, including mine to Texas.
So what are the new jobs? Government positions?

That fact was mention in other posts on the Huff thread. Lots of pay increases for civil servants by the new Governor.

I’m afraid that I can’t use huff-post as a reliable source for this information. It’s not as though truth is part of their writing style.

Evan Bayh ran that play in Indiana back in the 90s.
Got a lottery passed to bring in new money for the budget, allowed the state employees to unionize for the first time, gave them big raises, and turned them into his personal campaign staff.

It worked for a while but eventually backfired bigtime.

Reason to believe that Dayton was the stupidest man in the Senate, courtesy of our own dear, departed Congressman Billybob:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1070417/posts?q=1&;page=61

New jobs here are government or service sector. Ie; burger flipping.

And yeah, we’re getting huge economic boosts from Dakota oil and Wisconsin’s turnaround.

We’re the Norway of the Northern States. Absent rich neighbors, we’re screwed.

Guv jobs, for sure. If MN’s model was real, TX would be in the dumps, as its polar opposite.

Go play here to your hearts content with all kinds of choices (Google Data)

I juxtaposed MN against WS, MA, IL, CA etc. Unemployment over the past 20 years or so. You can pick any states you want. It basically says if you're going to measure MN on this, then your screwed, because every other liberal state is not doing as well as WS.

The secret is you have to look over time. You can't just say 'oh one liberal state is doing better at this moment than one righty state.'

A graph I made at google in about 2 seconds with plenty of other stuff you can to. Google is our friend, even though they are intrusive.

I'm glad you asked the question, because I didn't know Google had this service. It's quite ... sweet.

Minnesota. America’s first Communist Country.

They’re also a bunch of muzzie delusional sympathizers. They don’t have a clue and are bad for the USA.

Minnesota has had a significantly higher median income vs Wisconsin for many years. For example in 2002 MN was $54,622 while WI was $45,903.

That kind of disparity would suggest these two states aren’t even comparable. Different animals.

Just another bogus hit piece from the unhinged left. The more the left slanders Walker the more I want to vote for him.

I was looking at their statistics and they are a bit different from most states as the largest group of immigrants is Asians.

Just got back from there. At the airport I was surprised to find the posted messages were in English and Chinese. Not one word of Spanish anywhere. When I arrived in Tampa, it was all English and Spanish.
