Bullying leads to moms fighting on school bus; teenager stabbed
South Florida Sun-Sentinel ^ | February 26, 2015 | Joe Cavaretta and Linda Trischitta

Posted on 02/27/2015 6:53:39 AM PST by ConservativeStatement

The girl's hand was stabbed during the fracas and she was taken for treatment to Broward Health North hospital in Deerfield Beach, Carter said.

"This could have been much, much worse, because the mother of the bullied child was actually heading back to her vehicle to retrieve her firearm when we arrived on the scene," Carter said.

Demps will be charged with felony possession of a firearm and aggravated battery, Carter said.

The knife used in the stabbing belonged to Demps, and the other mother was also armed with a blade, according to the Sheriff's Office.

They don't give a rip if their kid is bullying someone else...in fact, some encourage it.

Some ghetto women decide they need to make their kids into violent thugs, so they have some protection in their old age against all the OTHER violent thugs in the neighborhood.

Much of the time, the bullies are a member of a protected class.

No need to look, but that brings up another cultural point: What is it with Florida and school bus beatings?

My mistake and apology. How could I have been so off base?

When I was a kid, I figured out how to handle a bully. Warnings didn’t work, but eventually one day he did the usual jump off the locker room stairs to punch me in the arm thing, I stepped to the side and grabbed his arm and guided him into the lockers and then onto the concrete floor, where I pummeled him repeatedly.

Curiously, after that, I had no problem with that bully, nor anyone else at that school, ever. Had I lost that fight, I would have won the 2nd one, by bringing in something like a small section of rebar or a little baggie of sand, maybe a piece of glass with some of it wrapped in tape.

Considering that most teachers I know (it’s quite a few as my husband is one) were the popular, atheletic kids when in school I think you are right about them over looking it or even siding with the bullies.

However, policies that were intended to protect students from teachers have really just encouraged bullying. For example, my husband saw a kid with his arm pulled back, about to punch another kid. He grabbed the kid’s elbow to stop it-kid replied, “You can’t touch me! My mom will sue!” That’s the attitude that kids, parents and administrators have.

Back in the day, teachers used to grab the little jerk kids by the collar and hold up against the lockers to get in their face when they bullied a weaker kid. When in 7th grade my husband tripped a girl and laughed when she fell in front of the class. His teacher pulled him out in the hallway and smacked him on the side of the head, his head hit the locker and he saw stars. The teacher then chewed him out about how you treat people weaker than you and followed with, “Do I need to call your Dad?” Knowing that his dad would follow up with more of the same he answered with, “No sir!” and his budding bullying days were over.

Decent teachers could bully the bullies, so to speak, and keep them in their place. Now, there is no way to stop the really nasty kids, and those kids know it.

I know I will probably hear about how teachers have no right to touch kids, ever. But there are some kids who are jerks and physically hurt other kids over and over-they don’t care about suspension, detention or whatever. Just knowing that there is someone there who is stronger and will not let them get away with it can hold them back.

I appreciate your story. Sadly, that sort of discipline is not allowed in school today. Teachers aren’t allowed to touch students, otherwise be charged with assault themselves. And these out of control kids know it.

Yep, used to be if you got in trouble in school, you also got in trouble at home with the parents. Nowadays, too many parents will sue the school over any discipline done in school to their little angels. The whole atmosphere in school has changed and changed for the worse, in my opinion.

My heart breaks for your poor brother. I’ve never understood why some kids are so horrible.

One kid pulled that “you can’t do that” to me once when I grabbed his arm as he was punching another kid. Quietly told him I was protecting myself from his fist and for him to prove otherwise. Another time I paused by a bully and whispered a little something-something and that was the end of that. It has to do with respect as I’d lose a fight with a fly. I quit 5 years ago because the kids were getting worse every year. 100% the parents’ fault.

Yep-my husband replied with something to that effect. He is pretty sure his days as an old school kind of teacher are numbered.

In the old days the parent of the bully would get a talking to. I think that’s what was happening here. “Either straighten out your kid or I’ll straighten out yo’ ass.”

He almost drowned at age 5, doc said there was no reason that he survived. Mom said he changed after that-he is just a little bit awkward, both physically & emotionally. Very much a target in school.

I teach high school kids. Several years ago students were quietly working on an assignment when all of a sudden to boys got up and one pushed the other to the ground followed by lots of yelling, cursing, and threats. I knew my students well enough to know it wasn't the silent kid on the ground who started it so put the bully in a full nelson to keep him from attacking the kid on the ground like he said he was going to.

So I've got the jerk in a pretty defenseless position the other get gets up and punches the bully right in the face. I could feel his knees buckle as I held him up. By the time I walked them both to the office the now silent bully's eye had swelled close.

While it wasn't my intent to hold the bully so the other kid could hit him, I have to admit that the outcome really didn't bother me too much and he was never a problem in my class again.

He was still a jerk everywhere else, I should have let him hit him again.

Despite all the training, teachers and administrators still do very little to punish bullies even when confronted with indisputable evidence. The dirty little secret is that often teachers side with the bullies, believing that the “weak” should learn to stick up for themselves. Should the victim however have the courage to speak out often teachers will punish the victim... ask me how I know.

This is also true in the workplace. It seems to be the dark underbelly of human behavior in groups.

Swirlie: Forcing someone’s head in the toilet while flushing it.

He is now 39 & lives a solitary life. Found a niche at work & has been with the company for about 15 years. He is not the easiest guy to be around, but loves our kids and is super uncle with them.

I was in a similar situation growing up...mainly due to an early move where I just didn't find a place in the new group. It didn't stop until walking home they knocked my books out and hit me in the stomach. Kid was a good 6" taller than me with maybe 25-30 lbs heavier. I blacked out and came to with people pouring out of the restaurant (including my grandma and the grandpa of the other kid) and pulling me away. I had blood on my boots. He was missing his front teeth. I still don't know how I kicked that high. They left me alone after that. Happened again later in life where they didn't know me, but not physical - stopped after I publically stood up and called them out on it. Got drinks for that one. - sometimes you just gotta stand up.
