What kind of dog is this?

I’m seeing it more and more in commercials.

Only drawback with the German Shepherd is they’re not suitable for large families. They’re really a one-person dog breed.

If you want a dog that’s friendly and welcoming of every one, a Lab Retriever is the ticket and no wonder its No 1. on the AKC Popular Breeds List.

Do you live in the “Hood”?

Pit bull mixes are what every shelter in the US is full of. They are overbred and often abandoned. The problem is that your local shelter perpetuates the problem by reselling them to people that should not own that type of dog. Also, many insurance companies will not cover your residence if you tell them you own a pitbull. Therefore, the shelter will register the dog as a lab mix.

I met a French bulldog not long ago. The woman who was walking him expressed surprise that the dog came right to me and was very affectionate. She said French bulldogs normally don’t like strangers and only take to one person in a household. Her dog proved that theory wrong.

Where are the Dobermans? I have 2 and have had Dobies for the past 40 years. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone walking a Dobe - are they becoming extinct?

I read somewhere that the recent batch of Golden Retrievers are prone to bite people in the face.

I recently lost my best bud, a Shih Tzu named Charlie. Would love to replace him with a German Shepard but at the moment have neither the $$$ or the space for one.

Popularity in a breed is to some extent a curse. When they get very popular, they tend to get overbred by less than scrupulous breeders. These are breeders that do not test for hip, eye and other genetic issues that each breed has. This is why now there are so many German Shepard Dogs and Labrador Retrievers that have hip problems.

One of my friends had a German Shepherd who thought she was a lap dog. She would try to climb onto my lap, roll over on her back and wait for her belly rub. If you gave her a belly rub, you were her friend for life.

give me a mixed breed mut any time. The breeders are destroying the animals by breeding them for traits that are show quality but make the animals unhealthy geneticaly

It’s just my wife and I at home-our Shepherds seem to cope with having to be two person dogs. Now our Rottweiller is a one person dog,he tolerates my wife’s presence but that’s about it.

Mine was sold to me without a warranty.

People accept they may have potential health problems.

Mine is healthy, active and alert - knock wood.

I wouldn’t give up my German Shepherd for the world.

“Do you live in the “Hood”?”

Nope, out in the suburbs.

The local shelter is full of them. I was dropping off a couple of cages to them for donation once and upon walking into the area, I had a Pit desperately trying to get through a kennel wall to attack me. It was just insane. Who in their right mind would adopt something like that especially with kids. You couldn’t even get near the kennel.
