My wife is Chinese-American, born here. Her parents spoke Chinese, and asked the delivering doctors here in the USA to name all but the last of six children. My wife lucked out with a great name, Annie. The last child, the parents chose a Chinese name; and the boy legally changed it to an anglicized version when he came of legal age to do so.
