The dark blue states are carrying the rest of the USA.
I would say that the first four colors are carrying the last color.
You could remove Texas and still be QUITE GOOD in the USA, economically!
Good chart. Without the relative weights of each state you can’t tell the impact. For example CA growing 2% will have a much larger impact on US GDP than ND 9.7%. California GDP is $2.05T so a 2% growth rate is +$41B to GDP while ND’s $50B GDP grew and impressive 9.7% but only added $4.4B to US GDP.
Looking at the data if you completely removed the growth from Texas ($49B) then total GDP growth would have been 1.5% instead of 1.8% reported in 2013.
