I believe the calculus is more along the lines of 100 MM women saying to themselves “I am not willing to say/admit I did not see it”. So it doesn’t matter what a piece of glud it is. It is that issue of Cosmo/People/Us in the supermarket checkout line that infallibly extracts dollars from the curious when the more detached mind thinks “and you would pay money for that?”

Exactly, an example of wildly successful buzz and marketing to get an extremely high initial audience.
