Music News ^

The name Ennio Morricone has become synonymous with film, having provided the backdrop to countless classic movies.

The Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor and former trumpet player is credited with writing the music for over 500 film and TV series and at 86 years old he still towers like a monolith above all others. His music was in American Sniper, and even Clint composed a little.

“Ecstasy of Gold” is one of the best pieces of music ever used in a film. It’s perfection.

Loved “The Mission” and can’t recall ever hearing music as sinister as Ennio’s soundtrack to “The Thing”

My favorite by him is “Nella Fantasia”, based on the theme from the Mission.

I love this version the best I think:

We used to blast the sound track of the Good the Bad and the Ugly over loud speakers on Sunday AMs at Kent State university.

People would whistle that theme all week all over campus.

Interesting how powerful music can be.
