” Who would want to expose innocent sons & daughters to the degeneracy and other terrors that proliferate in our world today?”

Good point. If you have kids and you care about them, you can’t send them to public schools. You can’t let them watch tv, movies, or use the internet unsupervised. You can’t even let them text their friends without peeking over their shoulders constantly for fear that the perversion is sneaking in.

Then, even if you do manage to keep your kids from falling into the sewer, they are going to have to wade out into it anyway, when they become adults, and it will be even worse by then.

“Says a single man who also doesn’t want children.”

and who advocates for two groups of people in his church (nuns and priests/monks) also never to marry and have children. If their vocation or lifestyle choice is more important than being parents, why doesn’t the same standard apply to other people?

“But, if they come along then by golly I’ll welcome them.”

Aren’t kids supposed to be a blessing from God?

So, if I have no kids, is it my fault that God hasn’t blessed me? Is that what the Pope is saying? I should try to defy God’s will and go out and make some kids by any means necessary like the death cult liberals?

I guess every now and then, the Catholics will end up with a loser Pope. This one has many issues.

So are gays selfish, Pope? Oh that's right it's not for him to judge that, but he can judge straight married couples.

More kids is good business for the catholic church

Mrs. 40 and I have the income and we probably would have made great parents. But we chose not to have kids. That does not mean we are greedy, it means we didn't choose to have children.

Yes, many Europeans and Americans have chosen not to have children, for whatever reasons. It does mean that those with very different beliefs than us, namely Muslims, will dominate future generations.

If income is not there to support a family.

Aren't you lucky, your parents could afford you......

Feel fortunate that they decided to keep you and forego that new car..........

My position is that, if you don’t want kids then have them and do anything that might bring one into the world. However, once you do bring a child into the world, than you must do everything you can to support it, even if it means working 15 hour days, every day, and for the next 20 years.

I’m glad when couples who do not want children, don’t have them.

These types of couples usually "don't have them" by killing them (in the womb.) Or, at least, they consider it an available option.

The pope is on to something.

There are some people who should never have children.

I have many dozens, ranging from 35 to 15.

They are the future, each and severally effecting the world MY way.

Just kidding!

HAW!

Is there anything this Pope won’t comment on? He generates a quote a day. I agree with some, I don’t agree with others, but at this point I wish he’d be a little less loquacious.

I never realized the choice my wife and I made to not have children was responsible for the spread of the scourge of islam. Thanks for that keen intellectual insight.

I have been on FR since 2001 and your post ranks among the most moronic I have seen. It saddens me to know there are FReepers so lacking on common sense. Have a nice day.

The Pope should lay off his condemnation.

There are many reasons a couple may choose not to have children. The reasons are not always selfish.
