What do you suppose the phrase "Blessings of Liberty" refers to in the preamble to the Constitution?

I won’t argue just to argue. That’s definitely a linchpin between the DOI and the Constitution and so you have a great point. I forgot about the preamble probably because I’m just not keen on infusing Christianity into our system of laws.

Isn’t it equally possible that they were using blessing as a generic term to say that liberty is just darn good?

Or rather that liberty is a blessing from God. Probably a little bit of both so point taken. I concede.

When I was a liberal I used to argue with other liberals - it was like talking to a lamp post and has over time made me slow of wit. It’s refreshing to talk with people who use facts. It’s true that you become who you hang around with. Hopefully some critical thinking skills will be reborn in me.

Thank you.
