Isn’t this a pretty heavy handed approach against a JV squad?

The GOP has to demand that there will be no holds barred. The military brass should be unshackled to get the job done. No PC. No tiptoeing. No strings attached. No meals on wheels. Give them their mission and step aside.

If Obama doesn’t agree to this, the GOP should not approve the action, IMO.

Sheeeeyit. You'll excuse my skepticism.

What sort of restraints come with this "authorization"?

There’s gotta be a catch, he has something up his sleeve, he always does. If he wants this, somehow it is to the detriment of the US for sure. I’d bet a paycheck on it. I tell ya it’s got a hook in it somewhere.......Gotta be.

Obama has done nothing but help ISIS grow and now that Jordan is starting to have an impact despite Obama’s interference, he wants more power to wage war?

ISIS would be history if not for the conduit that “NATO ally” Turkey provides for the jihadists. It is through this protected conduit that recruits, supplies, medical care and communications keep ISIS viable. If Obama were serious about destroying ISIS, then Congress must ask Administration officials under oath why nothing has been done about Turkey. There should be no need for American “boots on the ground”.

He just told us all this was over hyped by the media! That ISIL was a tiny threat compared to global warming!

Waging war comes with fringe benefits, namely the power to Nationalize anything under the sun as a means to thwart the threat.

A random war, in a random place, fought against random people with no distinct ideology, who are committing random acts of violence upon random victims of no discernible ideology.

The USMC. No rules of engagement. ISIS is gone in less than 30 days.

Anything short of that is posturing. The Gulf Arabs must have given Obama permission to ask for this legislation, as the press releases for their little anti-Shiite terror force have suddenly gotten far too negative.

The so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) poses a threat to the people and stability of Iraq, Syria, and the broader Middle East, and to U.S. national security. …
Does not mention Israel, but instead says “the broader Middle East”.

And of course, will solicit Iran’s help once more in this so-called “fight”. The only thing that will result is Iran gobbling up more territory and making things more dangerous for the US, Israel and the world at large. Iran might even make good on its threats to shut down maritime traffic in the region. Well done, Mr. President.

He is probably doing this so that he can siphon off money intended for defense and “re-program and re-direct” it to domestic channels. Just like with the stimulus program, nobody will have any idea where the money all went.

No chance of that. He’s a political gamer and is only interested in manipulating things to his advantage. Its not what he says, it what he does. If you watch him, the two are never the same thing.

He could have prevented the spread of this problem if he would have taken the advice of his senior defense officials. But he did not and he failed. Congress is bailing him out and enabling him once again.
