This is the Modern Music Ping List. Our topic is music from the 20th and 21st century, from Ravel and Shostakovich through to the Synth Pioneers and beyond.

It’s 100 times better than the crap they make these days.
Let us not forget drummer Tony Thompson who was funky and powerful but also subtle. He did the Power Station project which was straight ahead rock and he was, against all odds, considered to replace John Bonham in Led Zeppelin.
Combine Rodgers/Edwards/Thompson and you have an unassailable rhythm section. Rodgers has songwriting and production talents the other two may not but with only 1/3 of the original section living it might be tricky. Still, with hired guns on hand Rodgers did a fantastic performance at Glastonbury.
