Freak out! Nile Rodgers and Chic are back, officially. I knew some time ago that Rodgers was signing up with Warner Music, and now its official. A new Chic album is due shortly.
Rodgers signed a deal with Warners, and they will distribute all the new music from his label Land of the Good Groove, which he has with Michael Ostin. Michaels dad, Mo Ostin, of course, was the long time leader of the real Warner Bros. Records back in the day. Michael is an accomplished A&R man himself, with loads of great credits.
Nile is one of pop musics amazing talents. His trademark guitar sound is what makes Daft Punks Get Lucky such a smash. He produced signature hits from David Bowie (Lets Dance) and Diana Ross (Upside Down). And of course, theres always We Are Family for Sister Sledge. Mark Ronsons Uptown Funk owes a lot to Chics original records. Cant wait for the new music!

It’s 100 times better than the crap they make these days.
Let us not forget drummer Tony Thompson who was funky and powerful but also subtle. He did the Power Station project which was straight ahead rock and he was, against all odds, considered to replace John Bonham in Led Zeppelin.
Combine Rodgers/Edwards/Thompson and you have an unassailable rhythm section. Rodgers has songwriting and production talents the other two may not but with only 1/3 of the original section living it might be tricky. Still, with hired guns on hand Rodgers did a fantastic performance at Glastonbury.
Amen !
Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards also produced “Backfired” for Debbie Harry.
“My man your plan - backfired in your face!”
Heh heh...somebody got it!
