Junior Seau, Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Charles Haley and Will Shields were elected Saturday to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The class of 2015, announced a day before the Super Bowl, also includes a pair of contributors, Bill Polian and Ron Wolf, along with senior selection Mick Tingelhoff.
Five nominees were eliminated in the final vote: Tony Dungy, Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace and Kurt Warner.
Earlier Saturday, the selection committee reduced the list of 15 modern-day finalists by cutting Morten Andersen, Terrell Davis, John Lynch and coaches Don Coryell and Jimmy Johnson.

HoF ping
Marvin Harrison and Kurt Warner definitely should be end. They probably will be next year
update
The Class of 15 will also include former Minnesota Vikings center Mick Tingelhoff, former Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts general manager and current ESPN analyst Bill Polian, as well as long-time NFL executive Ron Wolf.
I mean ‘in’ not end
Update 2
Jerome Bettis in as well...
Junior Seau, Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Charles Haley, Will Shields, Mick Tingelhoff, Bill Polian, and Ron Wolf.
I’m surprised they didn’t go for Michael Sam. He spent his entire career with only two teams and was so good, his teams never lost a regular season game with him as a starter.
Mick Tingelhoff.
Finally.
If I had to pick five from this class, I’d go with Seau, Shields, Harrison, Brown, and Greene. All the other nominated players are Hall of Fame worthy, so I had to make tough choices. Seau is a no-brainer. Shields went to 12 Pro Bowls, so he gets the nod over Orlando Pace, who went to seven. Harrison, despite his personal issues is third all time in catches and ninth in touchdowns. After those three, it gets hard. Brown had over a thousand catches while playing for a lot of mediocre quarterbacks, and Greene is third all-time in sacks. Haley was the most questionable choice this year. He deserves to get in, but if you only had to pick five, others on the list have more accomplishments. Haley had five Pro Bowls, but almost everyone else on the list had more.
“Seau is a no-brainer” - No pun intended.
Charles Haley has 5 super Bowl rings.
As a life long Charger fan, I’m very happy Junior Seau is IN!
His children and family will be pleased.
BTW, I am pretty sure that is the play that made Ray Ray cry.
No, I’m not kidding. He cried on national TV after getting humiliated after Shields stripped him of his manhood. Shields beat him like a stepchild all game long.
Ray was totally outclassed by a far better player than he would ever be. So, he cried.
It was beautiful.
Long overdue selection for Tingelhoff. Fine football player, and a very durable center for my Vikings.
True, but how much weight can we put on that? We got players like Gerry Mullins and Mike Wilson who have four rings, but neither could be considered Hall of Fame worthy. I agree it bolster’s Haley’s case a little, but individual honors like Pro Bowls should get higher weight.
Seau was one hell of a player. He loved the game.
Noter Dame well Represented the year! And - Kurt Warner definitely deserves it - maybe next year!
You’re right.
He loved playing for his home town Chargers.
