She is famous for her role as Downton Abbey’s Lady Edith Crawley. But fans of Laura Carmichael will see the actress playing the help in her new film, Madame Bovary. The 28-year-old can be seen alongside Mia Wasikowska and other stars in the new trailer for the film which is based on Gustave Flaubert’s 1856 French classic.

Flaubert got into trouble with the authorities when he published "Madame Bovary". Paul Giamatti is also in the movie. Looks like a pretty good slate of period pieces coming out with this movie and a new version of Thomas Hardy's "Far from the Maddening Crowd" with Carey Mulligan as the lead.

Downton Abbey is my favorite show on TV. Great acting, script, production...just everything.

Knowing that the show is about to end soon, I hope they consider doing a prequel that takes place between 1860-1912.

The show is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I guess I am a contrarian, and quite disappointed in Downton Abbey; not much originality there. I am a fan of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and episodes were based on plots from old movies, so much so I just found I could not watch it after a few episodes.

Didn’t realize the show was ending soon. Sure hate to hear it. They always prefer to go out on a high note instead of having the audience tired of it, I guess.

A prequel would be great.
