The Hundred-Year Marathon: China's Secret Strategy to Replace America as the Global Superpower Hardcover February 3, 2015 by Michael Pillsbury (Author)
One of the U.S. governments leading China experts reveals the hidden strategy fueling that countrys rise and how Americans have been seduced into helping China overtake us as the worlds leading superpower.
For more than forty years, the United States has played an indispensable role helping the Chinese government build a booming economy, develop its scientific and military capabilities, and take its place on the world stage, in the belief that Chinas rise will bring us cooperation, diplomacy, and free trade. But what if the "China Dream" is to replace us, just as America replaced the British Empire, without firing a shot?
Based on interviews with Chinese defectors and newly declassified, previously undisclosed national security documents, The Hundred-Year Marathon reveals Chinas secret strategy to supplant the United States as the worlds dominant power, and to do so by 2049, the one-hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic. Michael Pillsbury, a fluent Mandarin speaker who has served in senior national security positions in the U.S. government since the days of Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger, draws on his decades of contact with the "hawks" in Chinas military and intelligence agencies and translates their documents, speeches, and books to show how the teachings of (snip)
Pillsbury also explains how the U.S. government has helped sometimes unwittingly and sometimes deliberately to make this "China Dream" come true, and he calls for the United States to implement a new, more competitive strategy toward China as it really is, and not as we might wish it to be. The Hundred-Year Marathon is a wake-up call as we face the greatest national security challenge of the twenty-first century.

An American Betrayal in Spades.

This was among the most important “accomplishments” of the Clinton administration.
They got communist China into the WTO, provided them everything on their Priority Intelligence Requirements list (small nuke warhead design, encryption, rocket booster improvements, MIRV capability, etc., etc.).
Hell, they literally disassembled production lines from US Army arsenals and depots, and shipped them to China to be reassembled.
There may have been intent on the part of the Chinese, but Clinton gave them real capability.
It looks to me like they have worn out their big economic run though, like Japan in the 80’s or the oil sheiks in the 70’s, nothing goes on forever. They are not the low cost producer anymore, and new investment is heading elsewhere. The best and brightest are heading for the exits, if they can.
Very Interesting
China got their money’s worth for the Clintons.
The “opening to China” was a crime 10,000 times as great as all of Watergate put together.
They may find themselves surprised when they run out of people due to the wholesale murders they are doing with their “one child” policy.
Truth.
Not so secret, is it? I guess it becomes “secret” if the mainstream media ignores it, though.
Bit hard to run out of people when they’re still at about 1.4 billion. That’ll take a few years, or one big war; and they’re currently switching to hawkish foreign policy.
The opening to China was damn stupid. I thought so at the time.
It can only take one generation to go from overpopulation to permanent decline.

It’s a secret? I am betting that Chinese central planning will fail just like central planning does everywhere else.
Think about this. USA has been a super power since WWII..
about 70 years total.
China was a super power for over 1000 years in the past, with the world’s highest GDP. It will catch up again as the dominant power in the world.
China has created more millionaires in the last decade than any other country. Looks like the communist hierarchy is letting capitalists run wild in China.
Old joke:
What’s the difference between the US, Europe, and China?
The US is socialist.
Europe is communist.
And China is capitalist.
Not to mention the fact that the rise of 3d printing technology will one day soon make traditional manufacturing obsolete. China will be in big trouble then, and with an aging population and a surplus of angry unmarried males, China will be living in, as the old Chinese phrase goes ‘interesting times’.
Exactly - Clinton of the 90’s changed the industrial arena big time - not only for China, but Mexico as well....what we did in the US was to start off really bad...but then passed laws to curb the destruction of the work force and resources used early on in our industrial era....China has not done that...their pollution is sky high and the land they have contaminated is poisoned forever + their rivers for the most part...cheap labor and non-existent conservative policy on waste management is destroying their so called 100 yr dream...I don’t think Taiwan is as bad as mainland China...but there’s always the rape/pillage of Africa by 2050! (If it isn’t a Caliphate by then!)
