‘American Sniper’ thrills Baghdad crowd: ‘Shoot him! He has an IED!’

Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” has wowed American audiences, but for one short week it also thrilled crowds in Baghdad.

Iraq’s upscale Mansour Mall played the film for one week before the controversy surrounding the film prompted management to end showings.

“Some people watching were just concentrating, but others were screaming ‘[expletive], shoot him! He has an IED, don’t wait for permission!’” said moviegoer Gaith Mohammed, the Global Post reported Wednesday. “I love watching war movies because especially now they give me the strength to face [the Islamic State].”

“The sniper, he has a chance to hit the child and his mother in their foot or anywhere without killing them, but he didn’t because he’s bloodthirsty like all the American troops,” said Wael, who declined to give his last name, the newspaper reported. Wael added that he had seen the film three times.

What controversy? The fact that a handful of extreme America haters didn't like the movie hardly constitutes "controversy surrounding the film".

That was the scene at the beginning of the movie... did anyone who saw the film notice what Wael FAILED TO MENTION?

Sure it does, because their hate is far, far more important than our hats.
You see, their hate forwards the One World Governance, whereas our hate [e.g. of corruption] doesn't.

Whereas this guy could be Michael Moore.

You mean ... that large "object"? The one that went "boom"?

RE: Notice that they had a bomb?

There ya go... And in the next scene after the child was shot, the mother, instead of helping her child, picks the bomb up and tries to throw it at the American troops guarding their posts. He shot her too...

Ugly and brutal scene... but war is hell.

Haven’t seen the movie or read the book. So what happened? Did the kid have a grenade or IED? Mom should have been ghosted too if so.

Don’t know what kind of rifle Kyle was using — but I suspect that getting hit in the foot would destroy the foot — and lead to a lot of bleeding.

I believe that the rifle was of caliber ".338 Lapua Magnum". One possible load is a 300gr Sierra MatchKing at 2700 ft/sec.

That'll blow yer head clean off ...

And your foot too, I imagine. Which I expect would be life threatening in and of itself.

That a person can shoot to wound is one of the worst gun myths Hollywood/ TV ever inflicted on the public. Sadly, many buy that BS.

It’s certainly going to cause a great deal of disruption wherever it hits. Still, the foot is the wrong target ... too great a probability of missing. The sniper must make every shot count.
