Time Warner has a monopoly in my immediate area...as agreed upon by the local town authorities.
And in that agreement they have a little deal where the channels you get have nothing to do with the package you agreed to.
So you can have certain channels this month, and next month they vanish.
Nobody read the fine script.
And now nobody wants to do anything about it.
So I don’t have cable.
Better off that way.
I cancelled them ... "No problem. It's done."
Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for the next month's service. So, I called them .... "Probably went out before you cancelled (doubt it, it had been 2 weeks) ... don't worry about it."
So, I didn't worry about it. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for the 2nd month's service, along with the 1st month's service, now overdue. Called them .... "Ohhhhhh, OK. We'll just close the account, when you send us a check for what you owe. We show it as (approximately) $3.00". Me: "I don't owe a thing, I cancelled the service before my paid-for month was up. If anything, you owe me!" TWC: "OK, we'll just write everything off. Thanks for your business."
Tired of dealing with them, I said "Fine".
Earlier this week, I received a "final bill" for (approximately) $3.00. Along with a note: (paraphrased) "due immediately. Non-payment will be sent to collections." Grrrrrr.
I paid the bill, because I'm sick of their incompetence. I'm done with them.
As an epilogue ..... I'm in IT, and we're currently evaluating Internet providers. TWC is one of them. How much consideration do you think they'll get? :-) Goes to show, in customer service, you need to be careful of whose toes you trod upon. :-) :-)
