Nemo is 11 years old..he has issues with his back, he gets those pinching pains sometimes and he thinks its coming from his tail so he tries to bite his tail..he used to have this beautiful Pomeranian tail until he started biting on it. His vet said there are meds for his back he can take but Nemo has a very and I mean VERY sensitive stomach so the Vet doesn’t want to risk him getting nauseated or anything from the meds so he said to just live with it..my friend suggested we get the cone to put around his head, that way he won’t feel the need to bite his tail but my sister thinks its cruel to do that for this reason what do you think?
I would love to see a pic of Isis, she sounds like a great dog. God Bless you for taking her in and taking such good care of her. We did the same with Maxie, he belonged to our neighbor down the street, he is a full bred Shih Tzu, they could no longer take care of him and we didnt want him to be killed in some shelter so we took him, 5 years ago..we love him from the moment we got him such a good boy, except he gets mad when you don’t feed him fast enough, it must be a Shih Tzu thing LOL

I have some pictures of Isis on my phone, but for the life of me, i cannot figure out how to transfer them to my pc, and then to an image site.

I’ve got it plugged into the pc on usb right now, but the pictures don’t show up in any folder;/

So I am researching to see if I need some app to do this, but I’m pretty thickheaded about these things.

As far as the cone goes, when my previous Shepherd aged past 12, he began to have some skin sensitivity near his tail, and from time to time he would chew himself bloody.
It was bad.

I tried everything I could think of, but in the end he would always find a way to sneak away for 5 minutes and just ravage himself.

I saw this product on amazon called Comfy Cone, which even though I really hate cones, seemed like it would help. It has padding all the way around in, it’s soft yet fairly rigid, and basically when they lay down it functions as a pillow for them.

It boiled down to trying to make the best of a bad situation. Even though it was frustrating when this happened, I loved this dog more than my own life, so had to find a way to deal with it.

He did spend a good amount of time in his last 1.5 years or so in this cone, but had to do it for his own protection.

The last 6 months of his life he began to suffer seizures as a result of suspected brain cancer. He had to go onto phenobarbitol, which caused him to be incredibly stoned for lack of a better word. he then had balance issues, so the cone could no longer be used in case it would cause him to fall and get hurt.

Thankfully though, during his final time on phenobards, he no longer chewed himself, so his last 4 months or so was precious good time that God gave us with this wonderful animal before he had to go home.
