Keep some old clothing you may already have, or shop
the used-clothing stores for useable but crappy -looking stuff, and if you currently own any sturdy shoes or boots, wear them, but don’t wear them out completely..and keep them, even if you buy something new. Then, you won’t draw attention to yourself as someone who looks like you might have a good stash somewhere.
Also, take time to get to know your surroundings. If you think you’re being followed, know how to get back to your base while leading the follower on a wild goose chase
