From here on forward, ignorance of the law is only an excuse the police can use. What will stop them from always saying they thought a crime was committed.

Keep a printed copy of the 4th Amendment and applicable local law and shove it in the cop’s face (record the whole thing). He can’t use “ignorance of the law” if he is given it.

They can ALWAYS claim to have smelled the odor of alcohol or marijuana to gain entry into a vehicle with this ruling.

They will simply claim it was in good faith. We’ve lost our republic I’m afraid. The constitution has yet another page torn from it.

Wow!

it’s just another ace in their sleeve. “you’re obstructing”, “stop resisting”, “I smell alcohol”.. not to mention trained dogs producing high failure rates (on purpose sometimes). As damaging as drugs are on society, the “war” on drugs has done more to erode our God given rights than any drug ever to hit the streets

This leads to what many in law enforcement for any purposes see/believe is their entitlement. My experience is that the young newbies are particularly prone to throw their weight around.
