NBC cited defence officials and said the charges could come against the soldier within a week.
But Lt Col Alayne Conway, spokeswoman for Army public affairs, said no decision had been made yet in the Bergdahl case.
She said: "We are aware of the inaccurate media reporting. To be clear there have been no actions or decisions on the Sgt Bergdahl investigation.
"The investigation is still with General Mark Milley, commanding general of Forces Command, who is reviewing now the Army's facts and findings to determine, impartially, any appropriate next steps and possible actions - which ranges from no further action to convening a court martial.
"We cannot discuss or disclose the findings of the investigation while disciplinary decisions are pending before commanders."

Dollars to donuts that they will do nothing and if they do anything, it will be just for show. To wit} Should he be court martialed and convicted, the conviction will be overturned upon appeal.
He could fill John Kerry's shoes.
“no decision had been made yet in the Bergdahl case. “
Why not? The Army must have investigated by now and knows the clear course it should take. My guess, is that some general is being influenced by the WH to keep it from going to courts martial.
Kerry was skull and bones at Yale,he’s an oligarch that was chosen to take a different path to power.
I wonder how good the intel the retired Army officer has is. So far, I haven’t seen confirmation from the Army.
“”who is reviewing now the Army’s facts and findings to determine””
What? One word at a time?
“”who is reviewing now the Army’s facts and findings to determine””
What? One word at a time? Pardon me - I meant “one word a day.”
Likely excellent. Obama and his flunkies behind the scenes are obviously delaying the news.
I'll go with #1.
I believe the report of the actual investigation run by Maj. Gen. Dahl shows Bergdahl to be a deserter however it's not up to MG Dahl to charge Bergdahl, it's up to Gen. Milley to make that decision.
Gen. Milley either hasn't made the decision due to foot dragging because of pressure from above or he's decided not to charge Dahl.
I suspect the dude is clinically and obviously nuts and no one wants to deal with the situation when his lawyers inevitably present an insanity defense. Has he been seen in public? My guess is that he’s a gibbering mess.
Argh.
“decided not to charge Dahl. = decided not to charge Bergdahl.
confuzen with those twp names.
” 1. The details of the report are toxic to the regime, and this is damage control (very possible);”
I’ll but # 1.
The Empire strikes back.
It sure does ...
