Somebody has been taking at least some care of the place. The weather alone would weasel its way inside and start tearing the place down.
“Urban Explorer” we used to call that a trespasser.
Why was it abandoned?
“Perfectly preserved” is a bit of hyperbole.
According to “dave” on his facebook page:
“It turns out that the home was willed to the church of the woman who lived there, and not to her daughter, causing some kind of legal battle. That would mean this home is in fact, not abandoned. Or does it?
Does any of this give anyone the right to enter it and photograph it....? No. However, had a handful of explorers not done such a thing, the treasures found in this house would have likely fallen into an even further state of decay.
The owner of a well known website contacted the elderly daughter and (much to the chagrin of many), the house has now been sealed and the valuable contents have been saved and boxed up. Had it not been for this group of “trespassers” this home and its contents would have been lost to time.”
Amazing
It usually unnerves me for folks to post a thread about pictures without posting the pictures; but in this case, there really are just TOO MANY to even try it. It would take half the night to write the code. lol!
Very interesting!
Valuable piece?
Must’ve had a decent house cleaner.
Seems rather undusty for a decades abandoned place.
The silver seems recently polished.
I have several sets and recently pulled two sets for an occassion.
They lay in a box similar to the one shown but, are modern in material used so they supposedly wont tarnish.
Had to clean several that were on top of layers and others that tarnished a bit in the sides.
Wasn’t terrible and I dropped everything into the sink, lined with aluminum foil and then filled it up with water and a some “Spic and Span”.
E Z and only took a few minutes but, this house seems too clean.
Wow!
There is probably about $30k in that house, stuffed somewhere. I’ve cleaned out about four of those homes...and we always found cash stashed.
Wow! That is amazing. I wonder what happened to the inhabitants.
The old photo of the little girl looks eerily like me at that age.
Just wow. I hope these folks have the brains to contact a historical society and get this place preserved for posterity!
The photos of the Paris apartment that the woman left during the war and never came back to were amazing. Just such wonderful, careless style. The French has such je ne sais quoi!
It does not appear that any varmints managed to squirm their way into the house. The fact that food packaged in cardboard containers was intact is remarkable.
It has a Princess Diana coffee mug which dates it to 1981 when someone lived there.
What is the time period of the computer monitor?
