Marijuana-related calls to poison control centers in Washington and Colorado have spiked since the states began allowing legal sales last year, with an especially troubling increase in calls concerning young children.

New year-end data show that the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center received 151 calls for marijuana exposure last year, the first year of retail recreational pot sales. That was up from 88 calls in 2013 and 61 in 2012, the year voters made marijuana legal for adults over 21. …

Driving under the influence of marijuana is up a lot, too. What a strange coincidence.

I’m gonna design some “child proof” cookie jars for these guys to store their brownies in, seems like a business opportunity.

Usually the stupid people manage to breed before they die because they start young. It’s the smart people that wait, and sometimes wait too long.

What a ridiculous jape! Science itself acknowledges that there is no "toxic" effect from THC, there is no amount you can ingest and "oversdose," and it is impossible to become physically "addicted" to it, as there are no withdrawals or side effects from stopping useage.

Whatever those "ovedosed" imbeciles took, it wasn't Marijuana.

Period.

Calls to the Washington Poison Center for marijuana exposures jumped by more than half, from 158 in 2013 to 246 last year.

246 people can’t ride their buzz... lol

From the article: "it's not clear how much of the increase might be related to more people using marijuana, as opposed to people feeling more comfortable to report their problems now that the drug is legal for adults over 21."

there is no amount you can ingest and "oversdose,"

You can actually die from drinking too much water.

But marijuana ingestion is like unicorn eyelash kisses.

Got it.

http://io9.com/5891425/how-many-joints-would-you-have-to-smoke-to-die-of-a-marijuana-overdose

It is estimated that marijuana’s [median lethal dose] is around 1:20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. [National Institute on Drug Abuse]-supplied marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.

Please google ‘lethal dose of marijuana’ to see the science.

I fully agree with what you said above.

My guess that much of the increase is due to the concentrated forms of MJ that people are making, like hash oil, which are way stronger than just the plant.

Apparently butane remains in butane-based concentrates, in small amounts. Even in small amounts butane is not good for you.

PS: I am looking forward to making my own dry ice kief. It is supposed to be a very simple process, and not an explosion hazard like butane.

“A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.”

Typical liberdopian propaganda! I’d wager consuming even 15 pounds, let alone 1500 pounds within fifteen minutes could be lethal! Certainly 100 pounds would do it - marijuana is dangerous - the government says so - shut up!
