Bill Belichick says he has "no explanation" for Deflategate
The Boston Globe ^ | January 22, 2015 | Matt Pepin

Posted on 01/22/2015 7:24:55 AM PST by Biggirl

Coach Bill Belichick said he did not know of any issue with the Patriots’ game balls in Sunday’s AFC Championship, and did not learn the league was investigating his team until Monday morning. He also said he did not know how the Patriots’ footballs became underinflated during the game.

Sarcasm duly noted. Seriously, something’s wrong with a person who is proud of cheating. Doesn’t matter if it’s a Democrat bigwig, or a Pat’s player, coach, or fan.

If you cheat, you’re reputation is mud...forevermore.

And Tom Brady actually had a bionic arm attached at halftime which gave him 25% more accuracy on all throws in the 2nd half....

The NFL has more type-As and control freaks per capita than anywhere in the world. This “I didn’t know” stuff is pure BS. Of course Belichick knew.

Just like his balls, Brady’s reputation has been deflated. What a winner*!

If I were a Hawks fan (which I’m not), I would buy five or six of those Nerf balls and thrown them on the field.

I’m actually a Raidahs’ fan. I wish they’d have enough presence of mind to do something to a football other than bury it....

Any other rules we should just forget about?

Due to the score the Colts eventually had to throw more in adverse conditions which helped set up the Patriots with short fields. That game situation was evidently set up using partially deflated footballs.

From a total game management standpoint, this is a big deal. I’ve been around enough football teams and coaching staffs in my time to be able to say that.

Smart! Risk getting kicked out of the Superbowl and possibly having a penalty called on your team....

You’re obviously not a business owner who takes in cash on a daily basis. If you were, I’m sure you’d declare every nickel. I’ve worked with business owners for 25 years. You’d be the first dumb enough to declare it all....

I assume you’re a person with average hand strength comparable to what most refs have (but not at the level of an NFL pro). Get two footballs and inflate one to 10.5 PSI and the other to 12.5 PSI and see if you can feel the difference by just holding them loosely in your palm as the refs do.

It would make more sense to fine the organization and take away draft picks which the NFL will probably do.

The Pats lost draft choices for filming other teams in violation of the rules and obviously learned nothing from it. This was not an accident or a grey area. This was a deliberate violation, again, of known NFL rules. The league should up the punishment accordingly.

If I were a Hawks FAN...not team MEMBER. Ballacheck, the Patriots and Brady are known for cheating now they’ll just have to suck it up and deal with it.

No, because obama would do it for a political angle. Russell called the children's hospital when he was first picked up by the team and asked if he could come and visit the kids. The public affairs person had seen this routine before. A pro athlete that shows up, takes some pictures, leaves and never comes back.

. Russell didn't want that. He didn't want any photos unless it was taken by a kid or family member. Then he came back the next week, and the week after that, etc. He is giving comfort and diversion to those kids and doesn't want any publicity for it. That is admirable.
