Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and given the context, it is an interesting moment to ask whether it really matters that the Motion Picture academy failed to nominate the black director and the black lead actor of Selma, the King biopic, for Oscars.
The Oakland Tribune went there and then some on Friday, topping its article about the awards with the headline, And the Oscar for the best Caucasian goes to ...
While the snubs may sting and point toward a broader blindness, its still more important in the long run that a young female black director received the backing of a Hollywood studio and made an important film. Long after the last blubbering actor has been played off the stage while thanking his or her makeup assistant at the Oscars, we will still have Selma.

priceless...STUPID but priceless
It’s nominated for BEST PICTURE!!! What the hell do these people WANT???
WILL THIS RACE STUFF EVER END ????
I’m sick to death of it.
.
The only reason “12 Years a Slave” won last year is because it was about slavery, not because it was anything more than a mediocre movie. Now the affirmative-action crowd thinks all they have to do is make a movie about the struggle and it will automatically win.
Mo...Mo and Mo and Mo evidently.
the “film” itself cant be photographed...holding and Oscar...ya know
As soon as cracker is bred out.
Because it points out what hypocrites Hollywood liberals are? While they demand that others just give stuff to minorities, they believe that their awards should go to someone or something that actually deserves it
Shove it NYT.
Up your collective Obamaholes.
You are soon to die, and none of us gives a sh**.
The answer is obvious. They should boycott hollywood.
What do these people want?
They want us to lie and say we care, but the truth is we don’t give a damn.
now youve “gone and done it” ...
the “left” boycotting.....HOLLYWOOD?
Affirmative action Oscars? That’s like giving every kid on a soccer league a trophy or giving some buffoon the Nobel prize for getting elected president. Moronic and childish.
Nothing will ever be enough.
I still think that a remake of an old Steve Martin movie...retitled Black Men Dont Wear Plaid....starring Revrunt Sharpton... could have garnered awl kinna Oscars,,
“Black films matter!” /s
Moronic and Childish almost completely covers the left...
:-)
You always come up with a good one.
.
rite awn rite awn,....
will this eventaull excalate to the streets?
will The Gentle Giants alleged father send out the call to Burn Hollywood to The Ground?
