Let me point this out.

1. There are three books to the essential life of a Muslim....the Triology. So just having the Quran....won’t cut it.

2. Note as you read the Quran (you should put some effort into this)...it’s been edited over hundreds of years ago to put the longest ‘verses’ at the front and shortest at the end.....which means there is no coherent story...kinda like taking a Hemingway classic and mixing up the lines so there is no way to grasp the story. You have to have that scholar guy standing there....to get the mix.

3. Duality is the essential way of telling the message. You can say some quote at some point that says ‘love your neighbors’, which forty pages later is replaced by a quote of ‘annihilate your neighbors’. The last quote outweighs the first quote, in case you don’t get.

4. Finally, maybe it’s just me, but it just seems like sixty-odd percent of the Quran repeats Muhammad’s name...God only gets mentioned ten-percent of the time. And this whole thing about artwork and use of drawings/cartoons, as you get to the actual quote....is some quote that goes back to the angel Gabriel. It wasn’t what God said to Muhammad....but what Gabriel said. Too many Muslims end up with the wrong understanding of what the book says and what some interpretation is stuck on something.

Wikipedia : “ The book details the four roots of law (Quran, Sunnah, ijma, and qiyas) while specifying that the primary Islamic texts (the Quran and the hadith) be understood according to objective rules of interpretation derived from careful study of the Arabic language.”

The operative phrase is the last - “derived from careful study of the Arabic language.” Translations, such as into English are invalid methods of studying the Quran.
