The Marines want no part of the A-10. ...................... Its an ARMY thing, they need it because of sustained operations against armored vehicles and to counter artillery. A 10s can respond to the scene quicker than track vehicles and helicopters and with a more powerful and quick punch. They are great close air support with a mixed package. They were built by Republic Aviation, are they still in business?

The Army can't operate fixed wing attack aircraft. The Air Force got that restriction when they were created as a separate branch.
