"The picture actually has like bullet holes," Woody Deant said. "One in my forehead and one in my eye. … I was speechless."

Well, why don't you like lighten up and like quit watching Al Sharpton speeches.

The Deant family has contacted a lawyer, Andell Brown.

Any relation to the Ferguson Brown family?

Come on down to Louisiana!

There is no shortage of criminal photos from the daily newspapers that end up, somehow, in the firing rage trash cans, with mysterious holes appearing on them. And the same goes for all the johnny jihad pictures, with the samee strange holes. Just a happy snapshot of diversity!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with realistic training methods. Realism, at its root, is defined as reality, and that my friends is what we have to deal with.

No problem as long as the guy is free to use pics of police for his target practice.

White and Hispanic males' photographs are also used, he added.

Beats the hell out of silhouettes and much more realistic.
In the history of the world NO silhouette has ever shot a cop.

As opposed to using pregnant white girls as targets?

“National Guard Sgt. Valerie Deant got very upset and phoned her brother, Woody Deant, to tell him he was being used for police target practice.”

I’ll bet Woody keeps his ass on the straight and narrow.

...bullet-riddled mug shots of black men left behind included her brother, from his arrest 15 years earlier...

Sounds to me like the department was cleaning out old files and decided to recycle/reuse photos as targets. Seems like a good green policy to me. That of course assumes they worked out the range/scale issues if the prints were not life sized.

If Woody Deant actually had a bullet hole in his eye (instead of in the eye of his picture, which is not the same thing in any mind advanced beyond primitive concepts), would he be called No-Eye Deant?

What the story doesn’t explain up front is that the actual racial make-up of the Miami police force is multi-culti.

Racial profiling was not a factor in the photos, Dennis said, who noted that the sniper team includes minority officers. He said using mug shots for target practice is a common technique and helps with vital facial recognition drills. White and Hispanic males' photographs are also used, he added.

It helps with "facial recognition skills?" Smells like total BS to me. "Black male, fire, white male, Hispanic male, hold your fire." Regardless , of whether this amounts to racial profiling, it does amount to poor taste and judgment when there are so many alternative training tools that are widely available to serve the same purpose. Indeed, the police officers could have used their own photos for target practice.
