The root of bitterness ... and so many wives have the ‘gunny sack offense’. Women suppress their husbands in other ways, too, like being passive-aggressive. And if a husband lets that sort of thing go un opposed, it will grow the root of bitterness. I could illustrate it, if there were any interested in the particulars.

Please do.
I think I understand what you're saying, but the illustration would ensure it.

I am a happily married person, but I am simply thunderstuck when I try to explain something to my wife and she doesn’t believe me, and then a twenty-something sales clerk will tell her the same thing I told her... and it’s like Moses had come down from the Mount. No kidding.

Conversely, (and not always) I have to painstakingly unravel something somebody told her that she is predisposed to automatically believe, a sales clerk, a receptionist, a guy who told her “X”. She has gotten much better at discerning this stuff over the years, but I am still amazed at how readily she is willing to give credibility to some person I look at at and go, Huh?

I've learned when asking the wife to do something that she doesn't think the same as me and if I don't want to be agrevated later, I must give more details than one would normally think required.

Like Milk ...Whole Milk Please, No 2%
(Married 15 year, like she oughta know!)

Trash bags ...pls get the biggest box, not the smallest.

...and on and on.

This media stereotype isn’t universal. I’ve recently discovered an excellent western TV series called ‘Hell on Wheels’ where the male protagonist is a good old fashioned, smart, tough and resourceful man. His female counterpart, whilst in many ways strong and independent, is also prone to dangerous naivete which he has to rein in on occasion. For his part, his major flaw is his short temper which often makes him make stupid decisions in the heat of the moment, from which he sometimes needs rescuing from. Good series. I like it.

The only thing worse than losing an argument to a woman is winning one.

I hope you are purposefully trying to be obtuse. The alternative is rather disturbing.

I meant exactly what I said. I have never seen a package of hamburger marked 70/30. I have, however, seen many packages of hamburger.

Check the 1lb, 5lb or 10lb "tubes" of pre-measured hamburger meat. That's where I usually find the 70/30 stuff.

I question the pedigree of this article. If a woman has a husband who is accomplished at repairing most things, providing, fathering and so on, she is on thin ice for such a petty attitude. If he was a drunken layabout, sure, bitch away. She forgot how good she’s got it, or has never had to live through such a scenario. The tell was the blue socks. Only new blue jeans will bleed, and only the first/second wash. I do everything together and only avoid mixing something new with the old, though I always wash new jeans with old, with the hope of a free dye job on the oldies. ;)

I think Chuck just raises his eyebrow at the cow, and gives it a disapproving look, and the cow hops into the meat grinder voluntarily.

Yes, I know his position on blogs. I know how to post, I’ve been here for nearly 10 years. I just don’t know how to post a blog article, because I’ve never posted one of those before. I post regular articles from news sources.

I think the confusion is on the fat...well there is ground fat, and there is fat that is marbled in the meat naturally. The meat company does have a way of making the hamburger that gives you the 70/30 ratio. Not the same as the ribeye marbled steak.

I think I bought a tube of hamburger once. It was gross. Never did that again.

Wal-Mart has hamburger patties made of beef hearts. Ultimate gross-out! Arteries!

If it was 70/30, I didn’t notice. But it probably was.

I know for sure I’ve never seen 70/30 on the packages they make right in the store. 80/20 is the fattiest I’ve seen.

"...he’s always been very agreeable to my way of doing things. And for the most part, if he notices I prefer to do something a certain way, he tries to remember it in the future. Instead of focusing on those wonderful things, I just harped on the negative."

He wasn't being agreeable and remembering things for the future for your sake. I suspect he gave up on trying to please you early on. He was just doing these things to preserve what little peace and tranquility he had left in his sorry marriage.

(You, as in the author. Not you, you.) ;-)

70/30 Hamburger is “normal” hamburger. If it doesn’t say anything on it, it is 70/30.
