Need software help ("Wondershare")
1/8/15

Posted on 01/08/2015 8:44:26 AM PST by pabianice

I made the mistake of trying Wondershare converter to convert .pdf to .pub. It doesn't. Instead it demands about $100 for the "authorized" version. When I try to delete it from my PC it won't delete (using the control panel) and whenever I bring-up a .pdf file it now has "Wondershare" stamped all over it.

How do I get this malware out of my PC? Thanks.

You could use System Restore to go to a restore point before you installed it.

Download MalwareBytes and CCleaner. Boot into Safe Mode. Use MalwareBytes to scan and clean your machine. Uninstall the program from within CCleaner, and run CCleaner to purge your registry and file system of all traces of the program.

Or, if you have a backup or system restore point, just go back to before you installed it. In Control Panel, click ‘Recovery’ and open system restore. Restore from the point just prior to installing the program.

Iobit Uninstaller does a good job of removing all traces of a program pretty well. Just use the Powerful Scan option.

What you need is a less annoying chunk of Malware to distract you from the mess you have now. I recommend downloading all the porn you can find until you get a virus. This way, you have a better reason to go to an IT professional for help. “I downloaded this virus on my computer intentionally” gets face palm award.

(Synically, and learnedly, I post this because,... I have been there. LOL) (Not with the porn part)

Make sure you write a scathing review of this product and post it everywhere you can find.

Some good advice here IMHO...

CCleaner is a reliable tool, free to download, no malware and they don’t try to upsell...I’ve used it for a couple years with no problems at all...Offers upgrades to the latest free version whenever available...

Iobit Uninstaller is also a free download and has worked well for me...

I use a little freeware program that uninstalls programs and associated files. It is pretty good.

GeekUninstaller

Yes and don’t use CNET to get Malwarebytes.

True that, CNET ended up costing me mucho.

I gave up on CNET a long time ago. Will have to look at the iobot program.

Malwarebytes has saved me a lot of grief. I am a long time System Mechanic user.
